about suzanne drown

Inspiration – I gather the inspiration for my artwork from nature, dance, and the celebration of children and cultures from around the world. I enjoy bringing a strong sense of hope, inspiration and life affirming messages to my work. For many years this has found its voice in fiber arts, especially batik and dye painting. In recent years, watercolor painting has also become a passion.

Educator – I am an artist that loves to bring the creative experience to students of all ages. As a teacher, I love it when a student gets excited about the creative process! When I  hear them go “cool” or “wow,” it makes my day. I love trying new things and am always developing new art experiences. Sea weed marbling and studying art from other parts of the world are projects I have researched and brought to my students in recent months.

A working artist for more than two decades, my journey began as an art therapist working with children and there families. After many years working in community organizations and public schools, the call to the creative life as an artist was answered.  My experience and education contribute to my abilities and insights teaching artist.
